Additional remarks	Dit antibioticum is breed inzetbaar voor multiresistente bacteriële infecties. Afgelopen jaren is het carbapenem gebruik in Nederland verviervoudigd. Tevens zijn er steeds meer meldingen van CRE infecties in Nederland met ook een aantal die daaraan overlijden. Bij het RIVM zijn in 2016 van 142 personen kweken ingestuurd met carbapenem-resistente Enterobacteriaceae en 28 kweken met carbapenemase producerende P. aeruginosa. In totaal dus 170 patiëntenkweken met daarbij in achting nemend dat dit niet allemaal infecties betreft en dat ook niet elk ziekenhuis instuurt. De inschatting: 170 is wellicht nog aan de hoge kant.
