Substantiation De belangrijkste secundaire eindpunten waren de gemiddelde procentuele verandering in LDL-cholesterolgehalte vanaf baseline tot week 22 en 24 en de absolute verandering in LDL-cholesterolniveau vanaf baseline tot week 24. De resultaten voor al deze lipidenvariabelen waren significant beter bij behandeling met evolocumab dan met placebo. De verwachting is dat het in de derdelijn ingezet zal worden. Aangezien kinderen over het algemeen goed reageren op statines.

Additional remarks De prevalentie van heterozygote FH is naar schatting één op de 250 personen in de algemene bevolking. In de praktijk zal het om een heel kleine groep kinderen gaan. De meeste kinderen komen goed uit met statine therapie. Slechts een minderheid (ongeveer 10%) haalt de streefwaarden niet. De inschatting is dat niet meer dan maximaal 150 kinderen in aanmerking zullen komen.

De fabrikant geeft aan dat deze indicatie al onderdeel is van de huidige vergoedingsvoorwaarden. Hierdoor heeft deze uitbreiding geen verdere impact op de algehele kosten, omdat er reeds een financieel arrangement is (deze loopt af per eind 2022).
