Additional remarks	De totale incidentie van bacteriële huidinfecties in de huisartsenpraktijk ligt naar schatting rond 50 per 1.000 patiënten per jaar. Antibioticaresistentie van de meest voorkomende verwekker van bacteriële huidinfecties, de Staphylococcus aureus, komt in de Nederlandse huisartsenpraktijk weinig voor. De prevalentie van resistentie varieert van 0-5% voor middelen van eerste keus, zoals flucloxacilline en fusidinezuurcrème en 4-7% voor reservemiddelen, zoals azitromycine en claritromycine. Dit geldt waarschijnlijk ook voor antibioticaresistentie van Streptococcus pyogenes. De prevalentie van MRSA in de Nederlandse huisartsenpraktijk is gemiddeld 0,8%, maar kan regionaal verschillen. De prevalentie van MRSA onder asielzoekers en geëmigreerde vluchtelingen is vele malen hoger, namelijk 10%. 5% van 5:100 inwoners in Nederland is 42.500. Indien dit middel een verkorte behandelduur (bijvoorbeeld 5 dagen) heeft ten opzichte van bestaande middelen dan zullen er mogelijk een paar duizend patiënten hiervoor in aanmerking komen.
