Additional remarks Kinderen met groeihormoondeficiëntie worden altijd behandeld, anders groeien ze niet of extreem slecht, dus bij de kinderen zal er geen sprake zijn van meer groeihormoongebruik indien er een lang-werkend groeihormoon beschikbaar komt. Vele kinderen met groeihormoon deficiëntie krijgen nu elke dag een injectie gedurende hun gehele jeugd, vaak vanaf zeer jonge leeftijd. De verwachting is dat veel ouders van kinderen met groeihormoondeficiëntie zullen kiezen voor een lang-werkend groeihormoon indien voldoende is bewezen dat het effectief en veilig is. Het totale aantal kinderen met groeihormoon behandeling, op basis van indicaties groeihormoondeficiëntie, Turner syndroom, nierinsufficiëntie en SGA(Small for Gestational Age) bedraagt stabiel ongeveer 2.350. Het aantal kinderen dat een groeihormoon ontvangt op basis van de indicatie groeihormoondeficiëntie is 1.150 en is al jarenlang stabiel. Een deel van de kinderen zal uiteindelijk in aanmerking komen voor deze behandeling.
