Substantiation Het gebruik van atypische antipsychotica bij een (bipolaire) stemming stoornis is de laatste jaren toegenomen. Olanzapine en Quetiapine zijn voor deze indicatie geregistreerd. Met name depressies zijn in het kader van een bipolaire stoornis vaak moeilijk te behandelen onder ander i.v.m. het risico van een manie. Langdurig gebruik van antipsychotica is niet los van risico’s (bijvoorbeeld metabool syndroom). Ook een meta-analyse lijkt aan te geven dat Lurasidon voor die indcatie gebruikt kan worden maar niet superieur is. Zie ook: Pikalov et al.
