Bosentan

Possibly no place in the treatment regimen

Bosentan is al op de markt en de eerste keuze. Er is al veel ervaring met dit geneesmiddel. De verwachting is dat het pas bij niet verdraagzaamheid macitentan ingezet zal worden. De werkzaamheid is vergelijkbaar met bosentan, maar het bijwerkingenprofiel van macitentan is beter.

Er zijn circa 4 tot 5 op de 100.000 patiënten met fontan levend in de gehele populatie. Uit de Concor database blijkt dat er in Nederland 150 patiënten zijn met een fontan circulatie. Daarvan wordt maar een deel behandeld met een endotheline receptor antagonist. De populatie die hier potentieel behandeld mee gaat worden is dus zeer klein. Er zullen naar verwachting mogelijk enkele tientallen mensen behandeld worden met macitentan.
