Additional remarks Masitinib is als diergeneesmiddel op de markt sinds 2009 voor behandeling van mastcel tumoren (Masivet). Masitinib is een tyrosine kinase remmer die neuro-protectieve eigenschappen zou hebben in het perifeer en centraal zenuwstelsel.

Substantiation Het verschil in overleving is beperkt. De fase 3 wordt in de subgroep patiënten uitgevoerd die in de fase 2 meer baat leken te hebben bij de therapie, namelijk de patiënten die pas sinds kort symptomen hebben. De fase 3 studie loopt tot eind 2023.
