Substantiation Voor HAP wordt plazomicine gecombineerd met een ander antibioticum zoals bijvoorbeeld meropenem (afhankelijk van het micro-organisme). Ten opzichte van colistine combinatie therapie laat een kleine studie een duidelijke betere survival zien. Verder is plazomicine een middel die als monotherapie kan worden gebruikt bij (gecompliceerde) UWI met resistente gram negatieve micro-organismen, inclusief ESBL (carbapenem-sparend). Toxiciteit bij niertransplantatie is onduidelijk.

References GIPdatabank; Nethmap 2017, nivel. incidentie urineweginfecties is 40-60/1000 volwassen inwoners. ESBL rate is 10%. Er zijn echter ook nog andere (orale) alternatieven voor handen en daarom aantallen conservatief ingeschat.
Additional remarks Afgelopen jaren is het meropenem gebruik verviervoudigd, mede gedreven door ESBL infecties, met name urineweginfecties. Plazomicine heeft ook een plek voor UWI veroorzaakt door ESBL en niet alleen CRE.
