Additional remarks In een publicatie van NTVG uit 2010 wordt het volgende aangegeven: Medullair schildkliercarcinoom (medullair thyroïdcarci-noom, MTC) is een zeldzame endocriene tumor. In Nederland wordt de diagnose jaarlijks bij 20-30 patiënten gesteld. De ziekte kan sporadisch voorkomen (75% van de gevallen) of familiair als onderdeel van het multipele-endocriene-neoplasie-type 2-syn-droom (MEN-2). Gezien slechts een deel van deze populatie een RET mutatie heeft zullen naar verwachting slechts een deel van deze patiënten in aanmerking komen. Als selpercatinib eerstelijns ingezet zal worden, komen er tweedelijns ongeveer nog de helft van het aantal patiënten in aanmerking.
