Substantiation	In de fase 2 studies werden positieve resultaten gevonden op het bloedsuiker gehalte en gewichtsverlies van diabetes type 2 patiënten. Er loopt op dit moment een fase 3 cardiovasculaire uitkomst studie (SURPASS-CVOT) waarin de effectiviteit van tirzepatide vergeleken wordt met dulaglutide. In de toekomst worden er meerdere gecombineerde GIP/GLP-1 agonisten op de markt verwacht. De eerste GLP-1 agonisten gaan binnen enkele jaren echter uit patent.
