Additional remarks Betaïne is een natuurlijke stof die wordt gewonnen uit suikerbieten. Bij homocystinurie verlaagt betaïne het homocysteïnegehalte in het bloed door homocysteïne om te zetten in het aminozuur methionine. Dit helpt de symptomen van de ziekte te verbeteren.
