Substantiation Er is momenteel nog geen consensus over het gebruik van SGLT-2 remmers bij diabetes mellitus type 1 (DM1). Dit komt met name door de toegenomen kans op keto-acidose (DKA). Mogelijk zal het alleen bij specifieke subpopulaties worden gebruikt. De EASE trials bij DM1 laten echter wel zien dat empagliflozine effectief is bij een lagere dosering (2,5 mg) maar er geen toename van DKA plaatsvindt.
