Substantiation De resultaten zijn gepresenteerd, maar nog niet gepubliceerd. Er wordt beschreven dat dit middel een snelle werking geeft tegen volwassen gametocyten. Deze spelen een belangrijke rol bij de transmissie. In endemische gebieden is dit een voordeel, maar in Nederland niet. In Nederland is de behandeling tegen malaria effectief met de huidige middelen (artesunaat IV en artemether/lumefantrine). Er wordt daarom geen significante toepassing van dit nieuwe geneesmiddel verwacht in Nederland.

Additional remarks In 2024 zijn er 194 malaria infecties vastgesteld; allen reis gerelateerd. In 80% van deze meldingen ging het om besmetting met P. falciparum.
