Fotodynamische therapie (PDT) is gebaseerd op de accumulatie van een fotosensibilisator (hexaminolevulinaathydrochloride) of zijn precursor in de doelcellen, die bij belichting reactieve zuurstofradicalen genereert die de zieke cellen doden.
