Van deze 800 patiënten heeft ongeveer 60% low risk MDS (n=480) (1). Ongeveer 60% van de patiënten met low risk MDS is symptomatisch (n=288). Van deze subpopulatie heeft 65% bloedtransfusies nodig (n=187) en komt 95% in aanmerking voor ESA (n=178). Van deze patiënten hebben 21% een endogeen serum EPO >200 U/L en komen in aanmerking voor Luspatercept (n=38). Dit omdat patiënten met een lager endogeen serum EPO waarde effectief behandeld kunnen worden met de huidige EPOs. In de praktijk wordt verwacht dat het patiëntvolume lager zal uitvallen doordat patiënten tot een gehalte van 500 U/L op dit moment behandeld worden met ESA.
