Hepatology 2022 (4); Additional remarks Maralixibat wordt op dit moment enkel in pediatrische patiënten getest van 12 maanden tot 18 jaar(1). De prevalentie bij geboorte is 1 in 50:000 (2). Bij een gemiddeld aantal geboortes van 170.000 in Nederland worden er gemiddeld 3 of 4 patiënt per jaar verwacht (3). Een incidentie van 3,4 patiënten per jaar leidt tot 18*3,4=61,1 ALGS verwachte patiënten van 0 tot 18 jaar. De grootste registratie studie in ALGS wereldwijd (4) laat zien dat het grootste aantal levertransplantaties bij deze ziekte voor het vijfde jaar plaatsvindt, het aantal neemt geleidelijk af tot de leeftijd van 10 en nog verder tot de leeftijd van 18 jaar, resulterend in 63,8%, 49,7% en 37,9% van het aantal patiënten die geen levertransplantatie hebben ondergaan, (Dutch cohort in GALA), dit komt neer op 31 patiënten. Daarnaast komt uit de studie van Vandriel et al (4) naar voren dat 74% van de ALGS patiënten cholestatische jeuk hebben. Mogelijk zijn er dus niet meer dan 23 prevalente patiënten met cholestatische jeuk in Nederland, en 2 jaarlijkse incidente patiënten.
