Zorginstituut Nederland heeft op 15 november 2021 geconcludeerd dat osimertinib (Tagrisso®) vergoed kan worden uit het basispakket als aanvullende behandeling na volledige tumorverwijdering bij volwassenen met stadium IB-IIIA niet-kleincellige longkanker (NSCLC) met bepaalde mutaties. Per 26 februari 2022 is deze indicatie vergoed vanuit het basispakket (Staatscourant 2022, 5825). Het afgesloten financieel arrangement loopt af op 31 december 2025. Dit middel wordt vergoed voor de volgende indicatie: "NSCLC, stadium IB-IIIA, EGFR exon-19del of exon-21mut, na resectie, mono, adjuvant , behandeling max. 3 jaar (Volw.)" Dit betrof 1.724 stadium I, 921 stadium II, 2.452 stadium III (waarvan zo'n 55% stadium IIIa en zo'n 45% stadium IIIb), 5.062 stadium IV en 31 onbekend. Uitgaande van stadium I / IIIa komt dat neer op zo'n 4.000 patiënten. Totaal ondergaan 1.175 patiënten in stadium IB-IIIA een resectie (NKR 2017, Heineman et al. 2016). 90% van de resecties in Nederland is een R0 resectie (DICA jaarrapportage - DLSA 2015). Het aantal NSCLC patiënten met EGFR betreft zo'n 5-10% van deze patiënten, waarvan 85% een common mutatie (ex19del/L858R).
