Substantiation Voor HAP wordt plazomicine gecombineerd met een ander antibioticum zoals bijvoorbeeld meropenem (afhankelijk van het micro-organisme). Ten opzichte van colistine combinatie therapie laat een kleine studie een duidelijke betere survival zien. Verder is plazomicine een middel die als monotherapie kan worden gebruikt bij (gecompliceerde) UWI met resistente gram negatieve micro-organismen, inclusief ESBL (carbapenem-sparend). Temocolline is een mogelijk alternatief, maar naar verwachting zal plazomicin de concurrentiestrijd winnen. De toxiciteit bij niertransplantatie is onduidelijk.
