Substantiation Patiënten met obesitas (BMI ≥30kg/m2) of overgewicht (BMI ≥27kg/m2) met tenminste één co morbiditeit met betrekking tot gewicht komen in aanmerking. De behandelrichtlijn van Partnerschap Obesitas Nederland adviseert om mensen met overgewicht en obesitas te behandelen met een gecombineerde leefstijl interventie. Alleen bij bepaalde subgroepen kan aanvullende medicatie overwogen worden. Semaglutide wordt als meer potent beschouwd dan liraglutide en heeft een wekelijkse in plaats van een dagelijkse toediening. Echter gaat liraglutide binnenkort uit patent en zal hierdoor goedkoper worden. Er komen veel duale triple agnosten met bijzondere combinaties zoals E2 glucagon aan die een grotere gewichtsreductie laten zien. Er zal dus meer concurrentie ontstaan onder deze geneesmiddelen. Tussen januari 2015 en oktober 2018 hebben in totaal 6.199 patiënten een gastric bypass en 1.385 patiënten een sleeve gastrectomy ondergaan die preoperatief ook T2DM als co-morbiditeit hadden(2).
