Echter, worden 6 van de 7 HCM patiënten niet gediagnosticeerd of mis-gediagnosticeerd volgens studies. Hierdoor wordt verwacht dat 1 van de 7 HCM patiënten uiteindelijk een diagnose HCM krijgt en voor behandeling in aanmerking komt n=4.029 (3). Ongeveer 30% van de gediagnosticeerde HCM patiënten hebben obstructieve HCM n=1.209 (4). Van de populatie patiënten met obstructieve HCM, heeft zo'n 86% NYHA functionele klasse II en III in aanmerking n=1.039 (5).
