Substantiation In de fase 3 APeX-P-studie (n=29) liet berotralstat een vroege en aanhoudende daling van de aanvalsfrequentie zien: de mediane HAE-aanvalsfrequentie daalde van 0,96 per vier weken tijdens de standaardzorgperiode naar nul per vier weken vanaf week vier tot en met week 48, zonder geneesmiddel gerelateerde graad 3/4 of ernstige bijwerkingen. Het belangrijkste potentiële voordeel is de orale toediening, omdat de huidige profylactische opties voor kinderen jonger dan twaalf jaar grotendeels parenterale toediening vereisen; daarmee lijkt berotralstat vooral relevant voor een beperkte, geselecteerde groep kinderen bij wie langdurige profylaxe nodig is en injecties een duidelijke belasting vormen.
