Daarin heeft voor milde astma een grote verandering plaatsgevonden: jarenlang was voor milde astma het adagium SABA, maar indien te frequent gebruik van een SABA dan een ICS toevoegen. Vanaf 2019 is het advies een formoterol bevattende combinatie van ICS/LABA geworden voor zo nodig gebruik bij mild astma. Budenoside/formoterol is een voorbeeld van een dergelijke combinatie.
