Ongeveer 1% levensbedreigende bloedingen per jaar die behandeling met couperende middelen vereisen, komt op een max van 4.000 patienten. Echter nu gebruikt nog een aanzienlijk deel van de patienten vitamine K antagonisten waar ciraparantag niet bij werkt. Echter steeds meer mensen gaan over op directe orale anticoagulantia dus steeds meer patienten zullen in aanmerking komen voor gbruik ciraparantag. Er zijn echter ook andere middelen zoals praxbind en andexanet. Dus het echte volume is een grove schatting.
