Substantiation Het grootste deel van de patiënten met chronisch handeczeem kan goed behandeld worden met lokale corticosteroïden. Als dit dagelijks nodig is met hoge klasse kan delgocitinib ingezet worden als corticosteroïd sparend geneesmiddel. Het is ook zinvol als er bijwerkingen zijn van lokale corticosteroïden zoals atrofie van de huid. De verwachting is dat delgoctinib geïndiceerd zal worden na falen op topicale steroïden bij ernstig handeczeem bij kinderen van 12 jaar en ouder. Het zal dan concurreren met bijvoorbeeld alitretinoïne dat op dit moment off-label ingezet wordt bij deze leeftijdsgroep. Er wordt verwacht dat deze patiëntengroep mogelijk ook delgocitinib kan gaan gebruiken. Ongeveer 6,4% van de bevolking is tussen de 12 en 18 jaar oud (2). Dit zou betekenen dat er mogelijk 200 patiënten in aanmerking zouden komen voor deze indicatieuitbreiding.
