Therapeutic value Current treatment options Geen vergelijkbare behandelopties voor >80% van de patiënten met aplastische anemie. Voor een klein deel van de patiënten met aplastische anemie tot 40 jaar kan allogene stamceltransplantatie overwogen worden bij aanwezigheid van een gematchte sibling donor. Substantiation Atgam is onderzocht in 5 klinische onderzoeken in 332 patiënten met aplastische anemie. Van deze patiënten werden 252 patiënten behandeld met Atgam 160 mg/kg, dat in evenredig verdeelde dosis werd toegediend gedurende 4 of 8 of 10 dagen. Het responspercentage in individuele onderzoeken varieerde van 39% tot 68%. In een vergelijkende studie met konijnen ATG bleek het algehele overlevingpercentage op 3 jaar significant beter voor Atgam (resp 95% versus 76%) . Atgam heeft gevallen geïnduceerd van gedeeltelijk of volledig hematologisch herstel en verbeterde overleving van patiënten met aplastische anemie van bekende of veronderstelde immunologische etiologie bij patiënten die ongeschikt zijn voor beenmergtransplantatie.
