Substantiation De indicatie is erg moeilijk behandelbaar. De uitstroombaan naar de aorta groeit dicht, dit geneesmiddel remt die groei en obstructie. In de eerste resultaten wordt een aanzienlijke vermindering van de obstructie gevonden. Dit geeft een betere kwaliteit van leven voor de patiënt. Er worden verbeteringen waargenomen in hemodynamics, exercise tolerance, physical function, symptoms (e.g. shortness of breath).

Additional remarks De gehele volwassen populatie in Nederland was (>18 jaar) was ongeveer 14,1miljoen op 1 januari 2021(1). De prevalentie van HCM bedraagt ongeveer 1 op 500 n=28.200 (2). Echter, worden 6 van de 7 HCM patiënten niet gediagnosticeerd of mis-gediagnosticeerd volgens studies. Hierdoor wordt verwacht dat 1 van de 7 HCM patiënten uiteindelijk een diagnose HCM krijgt en voor behandeling in aanmerking komt n=4.029(3). Ongeveer 30% van de gediagnosticeerde HCM patiënten hebben obstructieve HCM n=1.209 (4,). Van de populatie patiënten met obstructieve HCM, heeft zo'n 86% NYHA functionele klasse II en III in aanmerking n=1.039 (5). Ongeveer 90% van de patiënten met obstructieve HCM en NYHA functionele klasse II en III heeft een LVEF≥55% n=935 (7). Dit betekent dat er maximaal 935 patiënten in aanmerking zullen komen voor mavacamten.
