Substantiation In de behandelrichtlijn stelt men: ''De TPO-RA’s Eltrombopag en Romiplostim zijn effectieve middelen die ingezet kunnen worden voor ITP patiënten die refractair zijn of een recidief krijgen na initiële behandeling met corticosteroïden. Opmerkelijk is dat eltrombopag al vanaf 6 maanden na diagnose gegeven mag worden en romiplostim formeel pas 12 maanden na diagnose. Mogelijk veranderen de registratie teksten binnenkort, waarbij beide middelen gegeven mogen worden bij patiënten die falen op corticosteroïden of een recidief na aanvankelijk succes op corticosteroïden hebben gekregen, onafhankelijk van de tijdsduur na het stellen van de diagnose ITP.'' In de praktijk werden deze middelen dus mogelijk al binnen het tijdsbestek toegediend.
