Additional remarks Het patiënten aantal is gebaseerd op de prevalentie van PMR in Duitsland dit bij gebrek aan specifieke data in Nederland. Vervolgens is gekeken naar het percentage patiënten dat in de eerste lijn bij de huisarts niet uitkomt met de behandeling met corticosteroïden en wordt doorgestuurd naar de tweede lijn voor verdere behandeling (13%). In 2021 werden er 15.245 DBC's geopend met indicatie PMR. In de praktijk wordt daar in de meeste gevallen eerst (off-label) MTx toegepast en zijn tevens biosimilars van tocilizumab beschikbaar. Het daadwerkelijk aantal patiënten dat daardoor voor behandeling met secukinumab in aanmerking komt wordt rond de 10% geschat van de groep die naar de tweede lijn wordt doorverwezen.
