Additional remarks De incidentie van rhinosinusitis (zowel acuut als chronisch) in de huisartsenpraktijk wordt geschat op 30 per 1.000 patiënten per jaar, met een piek op de leeftijd 30 tot 40 jaar (1). Mede omdat tezepelumab mechanistisch op een ander niveau ingrijpt dan dupilumab en mepolizumab, bestaat er de mogelijkheid, in ieder geval in theorie, dat er biologicals gecombineerd gaan worden bij mensen die onvoldoende reageren op de behandeling met één individuele biological. Het totale patiëntvolume op biologicals voor deze indicatie zal mogelijk gestage groei vertonen komende jaren (2). Om deze reden is het lastig het patiëntvolume in te schatten, maar in 2023 werden er ongeveer 1.800 patiënten behandeld voor CRSwNP met biologicals.
