Substantiation De resultaten van SURMOUNT-OSA tonen aan dat tirzepatide leidt tot een aanzienlijke vermindering van apneu, vergeleken met degenen die een placebo kregen. Er is nog geen medicijn goedgekeurd voor slaapapneu, maar de verwachting is dat er andere GLP-1-agonisten (e.g., semaglutide) worden ontwikkeld voor slaapapneu. Semaglutide wordt niet vergoed voor obesitas. Het lijkt wel degelijk effectief in de NEJM publicatie met relevante reductie slaap-apneu in obese patiënten. De apparaten die op dit moment ingezet worden zijn niet fijn voor de patiënt, het maakt geluid en zit niet lekker tijdens het slapen (1,2).
