In deze grotere studies werd daarnaast geen toename van sterfgevallen gezien. In totaal zijn er 6.000 lupus nefritis patiënten in Nederland alwaar wisselend in deze groep ook flares optreden. Afhankelijk van de therapeutische waarde en de plaats in de behandeling wordt dit geneesmiddel aan een deel van deze patiëntenpopulatie voorgeschreven. Van de 350 ontvangen naar verwachting 60-100 patiënten voclosporin. Daarnaast komen een paar 100 patiënten van de chronische populatie in aanmerking voor deze behandeling.
