De prevalentie in deze leeftijdsgroep is ongeveer 6.700 (1). Het gebruik van JAK remmers bij adolescenten is nu nog minimaal. Adolescenten worden voornamelijk behandeld in aantal expertise centra voor kinderdermatologie. De meeste adolescenten zullen eerst worden behandeld met een biological en pas wanneer zij hier op falen met een JAK-remmer. Momenteel zijn er nog maar 12 patiënten bekend die met upadacitinib behandeld worden in BioDay (Deze database dekt circa de helft van de patiënten in Nederland). Het maximale patiëntenaantal wordt daardoor geschat op ongeveer 50(2).
